PE/Sport

At Carrum Downs Primary School we have a Physical Education Program where students are able to develop into confident, highly skilled individuals with the confidence to participate and achieve in a wide variety of sports. The Physical Education Program offers a high participation rate for all students with all activities having a learning focus.

Prep students are involved in a Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) in addition to their weekly Physical Education lesson. Students in Grades 1, 2, 3 & 4 participate in a swimming program focusing on improving their swimming skills and water safety awareness. Students in the junior school are introduced to physical education through fun and inclusive games using non-threatening equipment which develops confidence, skills and interest.

The Physical Education Program focuses on student fundamental motor skill development, game play, fitness, and students incorporating our 4 school values of Respect, Honesty, Teamwork and Friendliness in all aspects of Physical Education and Sport.  All students use a large range of equipment which engages them in play and gives them the confidence to perform skills in a range of environments. Students also learn game play, tactics and how to assess their own performance and provide feedback for others.

Carrum Downs Primary School has established partnerships with local sporting groups such as the Carrum Downs Dingoes Basketball Club (part of the Frankston & District Basketball Association), Auskick, Carrum Downs Junior Football Club and local tennis clubs. Qualified coaches implement clinics to give students the opportunity to join, compete and discover sport outside of School.

Carrum Downs Primary School is a part of the Carrum Downs School Sports Association.  Students can represent our school in Track and Field Athletics, Cross Country, Swimming, Winter School Sports, Summer School Sport and other sporting events at District, Zone, Regional, State and National levels. In recent times we have had many students compete at Zone and Regional Levels   and also a student compete at State and National Level in Athletics on multiple occasions.
